The Netherlands has more than 450 kilometres of North Sea coast, stretching from the south in Zeeland to the Dutch Wadden Islands in the north. For you, this means a huge choice of fantastic beaches in the Netherlands for an unforgettable holiday! We have listed the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands for you, all you have to do is choose your favourite!
Noordwijk
Noordwijk beach is more than 13 kilometres long and the perfect place for families, water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. Here you can not only swim and build sandcastles, but also take long walks on the beach or learn to surf at the surf school. Holiday park EuroParcs Noordwijkse Duinen and holiday park EuroParcs Parc du Soleil are just a stone's throw from the beautiful beach of Noordwijk!
Zandvoort
Zandvoort beach is certainly one of the most famous beaches in the Netherlands, as it is teeming with day-trippers from nearby Amsterdam on weekends. The beach is about 9 km long and is surrounded by two beautiful dune areas. A real highlight are the many beach pavilions, which are perfect for a break on the beach with their maritime interiors, delicious food and cool cocktails. In fact, holiday park EuroParcs Buitenhuizen and holiday park EuroParcs Spaarnwoude are just 30 minutes from the beach.
Texel
The largest West Frisian island offers more than 30 kilometres of white sandy beaches, so the choice of picturesque beaches on the scenic Wadden Island is vast. The beaches on Texel are numbered and divided into sections. The sections are called posts and indicate which beach you are on. One of the most beautiful beaches on Texel is definitely the sandy beach of De Koog in sections Paal 19 to 21, where you can soak up the sun in a beach pavilion and really unwind. And best of all: our holiday park EuroParcs Texel is just a few minutes' walk from the beach! If you prefer things a little quieter, the beach area from Paal 22 towards the famous nature reserve de Slufter is perfect for you.
Scheveningen
Scheveningen beach is more or less The Hague's city beach, as you can get to the beach from the city centre within 15 minutes by train and enjoy the sun and the sea - no wonder The Hague residents love to spend their evenings here. A real eye-catcher is Scheveningen's pier, which should not be missed during a visit. The pier is home to a 40-metre-high Ferris wheel, which offers panoramic views of the city and the sea.
The climate in the Netherlands is temperate and relatively stable throughout the year. The reason for this is the long Dutch North Sea coast, which always provides fresh breezes. This means mild winters and pleasantly warm summers.
In general, of course, it is always slightly cooler on the coast than inland, but the warmest temperatures and most sunshine hours are in the months of May to August. It is especially sunny in North Holland on Texel and the Kop van Noord-Holland. By the way, the warmest province in the Netherlands is North-Brabant, and in the rather hilly landscape of Limburg it can even snow in winter.
The bathing season in the Netherlands usually only lasts from July to September. During this period, the Dutch North Sea coast has maximum water temperatures of around 20°C. Popular seaside resorts with warm water temperatures are Domburg, Cadzand and Renesse in Zeeland, Katwijk aan Zee, Hoek van Holland and Scheveningen in South Holland or Zandvoort, Bloemendaal aan Zee and Egmond aan Zee in North Holland.
As in many other holiday regions, the peak summer season in the Netherlands is between June and August. This is mainly because most neighbouring countries have summer holidays during this period and a holiday in a holiday park in the Netherlands is very popular with families with children during the summer holidays.
But there is also plenty to do in the early summer in the Netherlands. April and May are perfect for tulip season, as the tulips are in full bloom during these two months - ideal for a visit to Keukenhof or a walk along the tulip fields. The autumn months of October and September in late summer are perfect for things like a city break or a visit to the national park.
The Netherlands offers the perfect mix of varied nature, exciting activities and, of course, worthwhile cities. You have probably already asked yourself which city in the Netherlands is worth a visit. We have listed the most beautiful cities in the Netherlands for you:

During your visit to Amsterdam, be sure to visit the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum.
Rotterdam:
The port city of Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands and impresses with a modern and futuristic cityscape. Compared to other major Dutch cities, you won't find as many canals here, but you will discover unique architecture and a huge harbour that you can explore on a boat trip. The city also surprises with its young and dynamic character.
Utrecht:
The charming, centrally located city of Utrecht exudes a special charm with its canals, cosy cafés and student character. Here you can stroll through the alleys, shop in pretty boutiques and enjoy panoramic views of the city from the famous Dom tower. A highlight is the beautiful Oudegracht, which runs through the entire city centre and on the banks of which restaurants with culinary delights await
Maastricht:
The city of Maastricht, close to the border, is a popular destination especially for tourists from North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is characterised by its medieval city centre, picturesque old town and a lively cultural scene. The heart of the city is the large Vrijthof in front of the Gothic Sint Janskerk. On the Vrijthof, you will find excellent restaurants and cosy cafés offering culinary delights and stunning views of the hustle and bustle of the city. If you want to explore the city from the water, you can do so on a boat trip on the river Maas.
Leiden
University city Leiden is the birthplace of famous painter Rembrandt and is perfect for art and museum lovers. All over the city centre, you can discover poems from all over the world on house walls or visit Leiden University's famous botanical garden. But that's not all: Leiden is a great place for shopping and going out.
You do not need a fishing licence for a fishing holiday in the Netherlands. If you want to go fishing in the Netherlands, you need a so-called VISpas. The VISpas is something like the national fishing licence of the Netherlands and can easily be bought online or at a local angling shop. The purchase confirms that you are a member of a Dutch angling association and the national angling association Sportvisserij Nederland. There are different types of fishing licences. The standard pass costs about 40 euros for a year and this allows you to fish with two rods in about 90 per cent of Dutch waters.
On the website VISplanner (also available as an app), you can also see where you are allowed to fish in the Netherlands. It is important to have your VISpas and a VISplanner (online or printed) with you when you go fishing in the Netherlands. If you cast your rod without the proper VISpas, you will face penalties such as high fines (exception: sea fishing in so-called fishing zones).
