Shopping list

  • 400 grams of spaghetti

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped

  • 1 carrot, grated

  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped

  • 1 can (400 grams) of diced tomatoes

  • 200 grams canned lentils, drained and rinsed

  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

For the meat version:

  • Replace the lentils with 300g (lean) minced beef

Recipe

Bring a large pan of water to the boil and add a pinch of salt. Cook the spaghetti according to the instructions on the packet until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, grated carrot and chopped celery. Fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

For the vegetarian version: add the drained lentils to the pan and stir well. For the meat version: Add the minced beef to the pan and fry until the mince is browned. Pour off excess fat.

Add the diced tomatoes, tomato puree, dried oregano and dried basil to the pan. Stir well and let the sauce simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Divide the cooked spaghetti among plates and spoon the bolognese sauce on top. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Enjoy your meal! 🐾
