A midweek at EuroParcs Texel

With the wind in our hair, our adventure begins on the ferry taking us from Den Helder to Texel. Bright blue skies smile at us and the sound of screaming seagulls immediately gives the feeling of a sea holiday. We really are out and about!

Holiday on the island of Texel

Texel is the only Wadden island you can easily go to by car. Extra handy, because that way we can just take everything we need with us! The crossing is only 20 minutes and you are on Texel in no time. From the ferry we navigated to holiday park EuroParcs Texel, as the name suggests, close to the village of De Koog!

Because we took advantage of the early check-in, we could enter the cottage as early as 1pm. Very nice to be able to leave all our stuff behind and go exploring straight away. The rolling landscape of Texel welcomes us. With the bicycles we rented at holiday park EuroParcs Texel, it only takes 5 minutes to get to De Koog. For activities further away, we take the car, but even this travel time is very short.

Lots to do on Texel

With the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Wadden Sea on one side and the North Sea on the other, Texel has a lot to offer.

The Wadden Sea is a veritable Walhalla for birds and other animals. Due to the natural interaction between low and high tide, animals come here to both rest and eat. So when cycling along the dike or standing at bird-watching points, it is a good idea to check the tides beforehand. When the Wadden Sea has low tide, many birds come looking for food and there is a lot to see on the mud flats.

On the North Sea side of the island, you can swim (especially in the summer months) and get a nice breath of fresh air. You are also in the right place for doing various beach activities, such as kiting or horse riding. For both the active and the beach lover, there is really enough to do here. From holiday park EuroParcs Texel it only takes an 8-minute bike ride to reach the North Sea beach at Paal 19. Here you will find a beach pavilion where you can enjoy a snack or drink.

The island for animal lovers

Besides bird-watching, Texel is also the island for animal lovers. Much of the island is agricultural land and you are often surrounded by sheep, cows and in many places chickens and pigs. Do you really want to come face-to-face with these farm animals? Then a visit to the Sheep Farm near Den Burg is definitely worthwhile. You will find a large playground, an animal cuddle corner (in spring, lambs too!) and you can attend an educational demonstration of sheep herding. So for adult animal lovers and little ones alike, it's definitely a must.

What you really shouldn't miss: Ecomare

Various animals live on Texel and in the surrounding seas, including seals! At Ecomare on Texel, you can take a look at seals, but also birds, fish and other marine animals, all found in the North Sea and Wadden Sea. You can also discover much more about the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, the North Sea and Texel in Ecomare's nature museum. Another fun experience is the feeding time and the educational presentation of the animals. So check in advance what times this happens.

The great thing about Ecomare is that they take in sick or injured animals, let them recover and eventually release them back into the wild. To support Ecomare in this work, you can also 'adopt seals' or make a donation on location.

Your holiday, you've found it!

With the prime location of holiday park EuroParcs Texel, you're in the right place to explore the rest of Texel. After all, there is plenty more to do! Visit the various villages, go out to eat, have a look at the local breweries on the island or wander through the dunes and woods of Texel.

With a modern holiday home as a base, you won't have to worry about anything else after a day of sightseeing. For an evening meal, you can easily make some yourself in the kitchen of the cottage, or you can eat in one of the cosy restaurants nearby at De Koog. The possibility of borrowing bicycles makes your stay at holiday park EuroParcs De Koog even more of a breeze, as you can reach the village in no time by bike.

In addition, the Pavilion 4 holiday home has a modern kitchen, bathroom and seating area where you can also spend days in bad weather. For hot days, the house has air conditioning and a garden with a terrace.
