1. Off to the Alps: explore the mountains
The most obvious thing to do on a holiday in the Alps is, of course, to explore the mountains. Take the gondola up to the Gerlitzen, which is around 1900 metres high, and enjoy the wonderful view of Lake Ossiach from the top.
There are numerous hiking routes up here that you can follow. The cosy huts in the hiking area are also perfect for a break in between. In winter, you can of course also go skiing here.
The particularly brave can also paraglide from the Gerlitzen. A tandem paragliding flight over Lake Ossiach gives you a bird's eye view of the lake and the surrounding area, allowing you to see everything from above. This spectacular experience is not to be missed!
If you don't want to go quite so high up, but still want to experience the mountains, you should try mountain biking in the Alps.
Right behind EuroParcs Ossiacher See there are several mountain bike trails and exciting downhill runs. The routes available are categorised into different levels of difficulty. Beginners can try their hand here, while advanced bikers won't get bored either.

There is also plenty to do for families with children in the area surrounding EuroParcs Ossiacher See.
Take a trip together to the summer toboggan run, which is just 500 metres from the holiday park. Two parallel tracks with a length of around 760 metres are ready to provide plenty of fun.
Sit in a single toboggan or together with your child in a double toboggan and ride down the summer toboggan run at your own pace. The control lever on the toboggan allows you to decide for yourself whether you want to slow down or hurtle down at full speed.
And of course, like everywhere else around Lake Ossiach, you have a fantastic view of the surrounding area here.
Or discover the routes and obstacles together in the Ossiacher See climbing forest, which is just 1.5 km from the holiday park. Here, in the middle of the dense deciduous forest, there is plenty of shade, even in the height of summer, so you can climb in a relaxed atmosphere.
There are also panoramic terraces at various points in the climbing forest from which you can look out over the beautiful surroundings. You can buy snacks and drinks in the climbing forest for a little refreshment in between.
3. Boat trip on Lake Ossiach
If you just want to relax on your holiday or need a break between all the action-packed activities, we recommend a boat trip across Lake Ossiach.
From the water, you can see the panorama of Lake Ossiach from a different perspective, marvel at the glistening water in the sun and let the wind blow around your nose.
You can also buy ice cream, snacks and drinks on board to make the moment even more enjoyable.
A boat trip across the lake is also a great way to reach various excursion destinations. For example, get on the boat in Ossiach and travel to St. Urban to visit the climbing forest. Or get off at Annenheim station, where you can change to the Gerlitzen Kanzelbahn cable car and travel up the mountain.

4. Experience animal adventures
Landskron Castle is around 10 minutes by car from the holiday park. There is a children's programme with a puzzle rally, a restaurant and snacks for a little refreshment in between and an eagle arena in the castle ruins.
At the birds of prey show that takes place there, you can watch the impressive animals in flight and perhaps even learn something new about them.
The monkey mountain, which is a large outdoor enclosure for around 160 monkeys, is also located right next to the castle. On a private tour of the enclosure, you can observe the animals up close and, with a bit of luck, even meet a few baby monkeys.
If you would like to discover even more animals during your holiday, you should visit one of the two animal parks near EuroParcs Ossiacher See.
At the Rosegg animal park, you can take a long walk around the 30-hectare site and look for the more than 300 animals that live there and roam free.
In the Feld am See Alpine Wildlife Park, you can also encounter 30 different species of wildlife. There are also exhibitions on Africa, grizzlies and fish as well as a petting zoo with dwarf goats, rabbits, llamas and duck families.

5. Excursion to Klagenfurt
After a 40-minute drive from the holiday park, you will reach the city of Klagenfurt. There are many exciting places to discover in the city itself. One of them is the Europapark in the west of Klagenfurt.
The Klagenfurt Planetarium, the Happ Reptile Zoo and the Minimundus are all located right next to each other here. So here you can explore three attractions at once!
The planetarium shows you the vastness of the universe in various performances. The show about the world of dinosaurs, which is also part of the programme, is particularly popular with children.
The Happ reptile zoo is home to lizards, tortoises, insects and over 60 different species of snake that can be marvelled at. The zoo has set itself the goal of counteracting prejudices against these animals and showing what they are really like. It is therefore the perfect place to overcome your fear of snakes!
The Minimundus is an exhibition of famous landmarks and buildings from all over the world - but on a scale of 1:25. Here you can walk around among the 160 models and see the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty or even Tower Bridge in miniature.
6. City trip to Villach
The town of Villach is also close to the holiday park. After a 20-minute drive, you can explore the town, visit events or simply go out for a delicious dinner.
One of the most famous sights in Villach is St Jakob's Church. It dates back to the 14th century and was built in the Gothic style. In summer, you can climb up to the church and enjoy the beautiful view of the city and the surrounding Alps from above.
Afterwards, take a stroll through the historic centre of the town and discover your perfect holiday souvenir in one of the small shops. Marvel at the pastel-coloured houses, visit one of the museums or take a snack break in a café by the water.
Or visit the ATRIO shopping centre for an exuberant stroll through the shops. Here you can shop for clothes and do your shopping for a cooking evening in your holiday home.
If you're looking for some relaxation, you'll find it at the Warmbad thermal spa resort in Villach. The thermal spa was built on the site of a former Roman bathhouse and offers various saunas, massages and beauty treatments. There are also slides and a toddler area for younger guests.
7. Explore the mountains on the inside
In the Alps, there is not only a lot to discover on and around the mountains. Plan a visit to the Obir dripstone caves and the Terra Mystica show mine during your holiday at EuroParcs Ossiacher See and explore the mountains from the inside.
The Obir dripstone caves in Bad Eisenkappel are an 800 metre long underground adventure park for explorers! In this cave world, explore living stalactites, the traces of former miners and enchanting light installations that emphasise the beauty of the caves.
The tour through the caves takes about 90 minutes. To get to the dripstone caves, visitors walk through a tunnel where miners' tools and machines are also on display.
If you would like to find out more about the life and work of miners, you can visit the two show mines Terra Mystica and Terra Montana.
Here you can find out what the miners' working day was like, what the air underground is really like and what darkness you actually find yourself in.
The two mines are located right next to each other and are connected by a 2 km long mine railway. In addition to the mines, there is also a mining museum here.
8. Spontaneous trip to Italy or Slovenia
You can reach both the Italian and Slovenian borders by car within three quarters of an hour.
Turn your holiday at EuroParcs Ossiacher See into an international adventure and pay a visit to both countries.
Travel to northern Italy and be enchanted by the charm of the small towns there. Here you can admire the Goriuda waterfalls, jump into one of the Alpine lakes for a refreshing dip or simply order a classic Italian pizza.
Slovenia is also home to numerous lakes, mountains, waterfalls and valleys and offers a wide range of outdoor sports.
Visit Mount Mangart, which you can drive up by car, and marvel at the fantastic view from there.
Or drive to the village of Kranjska Gora and enjoy traditional Slovenian home cooking in one of the restaurants after visiting the mountaineering museum.
